Communication Officer
WWF (The World Wide Fund for Nature) is an international non-governmental organization that deals with conservation of nature through a number of environmental management programmes. WWF-Tanzania Country Office (WWF-TCO) is seeking to hire the "Communication Officer" to be based at WWF Tunduru Office.
Main Task
Under the technical guidance of Communications Manager and support from programme coordinators The Communications Officer will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of outputs under the SIDA CSO Programme that are related to awareness-raising, communications and capacity strengthening in general; facilitating sharing knowledge, raising awareness and increase the programme visibility in the Ruvuma Landscape, partner institutions and other relevant stakeholders on issues relating to conservation of natural resources.
Specific Tasks
The Incumbent will work closely with the Communications manager to execute the following tasks: Ensure that relevant program materials such as Human Interest Stories, donor reports, proposals, factsheets, infographs etc. are developed and disseminated to donors and target groups through relevant media and network channels. The Communications Officer will assist WWF program officers in the proposal development stage to identify appropriate communication activities for the projects.
Develop and maintain contact information, materials and relationships with journalists and media outlets (print, TV, radio, web etc.) within and outside Tanzania to increase coverage of conservation issues in the media (print, broadcast and digital). Specific activities may include: • Draft and edit articles, press releases, human interest stories and other advocacy/information materials. • Collaborate with the media by organizing project site visits; facilitate photo coverage and TV footage and utilizing both web-based and traditional media as appropriate. Monitor and evaluate the use and effectiveness of media materials. Maintain a library of media coverage, clippings etc.
Manage the Selous-Niassa Wildlife Corridor web site to ensure it has updated contents of appropriate and very high quality materials that convey the essence and significance of the corridor in ensuring connectivity of the two protected areas in Tanzania and Mozambique.
Required Qualifications:
Relevant University, level qualification in the field of Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, International Relations and Development is required. Natural resources conservation knowledge will be an added advantage. At least five years of similar work experience is required.

Ruvuma Landscape Coordinator

WWF-Tanzania Country Office (WWF-TCO) is seeking to hire the "Ruvuma Landscape Coordinator" to be based at WWF Tunduru office.
I. MAIN PURPOSE
The purpose of this job is to enhance coordination of diverse WWF Tanzania programme activities in the Ruvuma Landscape in order to ensure WWF Tanzania goal is achieved.
II. TASKS
Country Conservation Strategy
• Coordinate and provide leadership as a focal point for WWF Tanzania activities in the Ruvuma Landscape as they are defined in the CSP 2015-2020 strategy and any other initiative emanating from the Country Office.
• Supervises the implementation of all initiatives/projects within the Ruvuma Landscape Programme Management
• Management of Ruvuma Landscape Programme Conservation activities in consultation with Conservation Manager or designate.
• Ensure that the programme is conducting comprehensive project monitoring and evaluation component in all activities.
Civil Society Organisations and Partner Engagement
• Facilitate assessment of the organisational capacities of partner organisations and to plan for appropriate means to ensure a continuous strengthening of organizational capacities for delivery of the conservation programme. This includes providing relevant training such as planning & budgeting, project management & development, leadership, lobby and advocacy, monitoring and evaluation
• Promote Learning among CSO and partners in the trans-boundary eco system
III. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
• Post Graduate University degree in Natural Resources Management and Assessment with relevance to Environment Management, Forestry, Climate Change, Wildlife, Marine or Social Sciences or related area but a masters'will be an added advantage;
• Five (5) years minimum of field and management working experience in one or (ideally more than one) of Miombo ecosystem management, protected/conservation area management, CBNRM, forest and wildlife management and other relevant fields in the region
• Excellent management and co-ordination skills, with experience of technical programme implementation and reporting and adaptive programme management through management orientated monitoring systems.

“In fact, all the leaders I met in the UAE praised us for maintaining peace, a prerequisite to achievement in development,” Dr Shein said at the press conference held at the airport in Zanzibar shortly after landing from the Arab countries. On January 21, this year the President and his delegation which included First Lady Mwanamwema Shein left the Islands for a week-long visit in countries forming UAE: Dubai, Sharjah, and Ras-al- Khaimah.
He said the reception he was accorded in each state was good, and that leaders in the Arab countries had promised to support Zanzibar move ahead in various sectors, including the search for alternative energy, oil and other natural resources, improvement of social services and infrastructure.
Dr Shein said, “… I personally learned a lot. The countries are economically well-off, but they have managed to advance because of determination and good planning, tools which we (Zanzibar) can copy from them.”
He said without good planning, even if you have money, one can fail to move forward as witnessed in some countries including in Africa where some nations have good economy, but have failed to achieve development goals.
Speaking with Journalists, the isles leader also answered questions which were not directly related to his trip. When asked to comment on ongoing views about changing presidential term limit from the current five to seven, he replied “It is not my agenda; I will respect my constitution term and leave the office to others.”
He was also asked about the temporary ban on registration of international ships after some foreign ship flying Tanzania flag were implicated in illegal business, he said “I know there are discussions going on.
It is the dishonest ships abroad are to blame for misusing our flag. I hope we will have the right to continue registering international ships.”
